Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions is a service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic mink eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear.
What do Eyelash Extensions look like when applied?
This depends on the type of lashes that are applied. With proper application, meaning one synthetic mink eyelash or one synthetic mink hand made volume fan applied to one natural lash, the feel is completely natural and the look ranges from natural and noticeable to fluffy and dramatic!
How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions Last?
In most cases, lash extensions should last the length of the growth cycle of your natural eyelash. However, this truly depends on how well you care for your lashes in between refills. As well as your day to day activity. See the aftercare instruction page for more information on how to care for your lashes. Refills should be required every 2 to 3 weeks and varies for everyone.
How often should I get refills?
Each and every one of your natural lashes is always in a different phase of its growth cycle. On average we lose 2 to 4 natural lashes a day which are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Therefore, refills are needed every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain their fullness. Waiting longer than this will result in your eyelash extensions falling out and a full set will be needed.
Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?
Wearing mascara with eyelash extensions is not recommended. Not only is it impossible to remove from the extensions without causing significant damage to your natural lashes. It's also an open invitation for dirt, debris to build up at the base of your lash line or even worse, a bacterial infection or lash mites! If you feel like your lash extensions are not thick and dark enough, let's talk about other options!
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent used is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend however that you DO NOT apply water to the eyelashes (such as in the shower) for about 12- 24 hours after the eyelash application. A light Mist is fine.
Can I use Eyelash Curlers with Eyelash Extensions?
I do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl but if more of a curl is required I recommend using a heated eyelash curler.
How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?
You will be provided with aftercare instructions at the time of your service. These after care instructions can also be found on the aftercare instruction page.
Is the product FDA approved? Is it safe?
Currently the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free and relaxing that most clients fall asleep during the procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. I recommend only using a Certified Eyelash Extension Specialist.
How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done?
This depends on the type of lash extensions you choose to wear. The application process for lash extension takes anywhere from 2 - 3 1/2 hours for a full set. You will lay comfortably on a aesthetics bed with your eyes closed throughout the entire treatment. Eye pads are then applied under the eye to cover your lower lashes and then each natural lash is isolated with a pair of tweezers and either an individual extension or a handmade volume fan will be applied to each individual natural eyelash, depending on the type of service you have selected.
How do I choose the look I want?
Eyelash extensions are available in several lengths and thickness. I will consult with you first to see what type of style you are interested in. I will also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size, as each person's lashes vary in strength and length.
